Authentication & Sourcing
At Second Industry, transparency matters. We specialize in surplus, pre-owned, and wholesale industrial, laboratory, and professional equipment. Because many of our products are sourced through liquidation, surplus, and wholesale channels, we want customers to understand how we verify the origin and legitimacy of the equipment we sell.
Our Sourcing Process
Our inventory is sourced through established wholesale distributors, government and surplus auction platforms, and direct relationships with laboratories, companies, and institutions selling excess equipment.
Our primary high-volume supplier networks include:
- ALMO for professional audio/visual and IT equipment
- GovPlanet / Ritchie Bros. for industrial, government, and specialized surplus equipment
We also acquire surplus inventory directly from businesses, labs, and other organizations liquidating equipment.
Our Verification Process
To maintain trust and accountability, we take steps to verify and document the equipment we resell. Depending on the item, this may include:
- Recording serial numbers
- Inspecting and testing basic functionality
- Reviewing available recall information where applicable
- Cleaning and preparing equipment for resale
- Removing prior user data, passwords, locks, or access restrictions where applicable
Product condition and known limitations are disclosed in individual listings whenever relevant.
To support transparency, we maintain internal sourcing and invoice records under Hunter & Hughes Enterprises LLC, the company that owns and operates Second Industry.
